The IIT Alumni of Greater Houston (IITAGH) and the Rice Indo American Business Club (RIABC) will be co-hosting a evening focusing on the Big Data.

Today, Big Data is all around us. Our internet footprint is growing at a massive scale, every article you read, every link you click, every tweet you send and every time you search, a lot of data is generated as a result of this activity. Companies leverage the massive datasets so generated in order to understand their audiences much better than they could before.

In this talk, Ram Sriharsha will discuss the big data revolution and the challenges and opportunities that come with it.The talk will introduce the lay of the land in terms of technologies like Hadoop, Spark, etc. and end with a brief note onwhere the field is heading in the next few years.
