The IIT Alumni of Greater Houston (IITAGH) and the Rice Indo American Business Club (RIABC) will be co-hosting a Career Insights event focusing on the Investment Banking & Private Equity Industry.
In the energy sector, investment banks are involved with advising and structuring deals for companies working through mergers and acquisitions, and much more. Have you ever wondered what is the difference between investment banking and private equity, or have you considered how to parlay your work experience in the energy sector to propel you to a career with an investment banking firm? If you are looking to understand what investment banks and private equity firms do, what it takes to join these firms, and what skills are required to be successful in the industry, then join us for this upcoming event.

The Panel will include:
Mohit Singh is currently at Head of Business Development / SVP Northern BU at BP Lower-48 and focuses on mergers and acquisitions in the upstream oil & gas sector. His other specialties include reservoir engineering, business planning, and business development. Prior to that, he worked with RBC Richardson Barr and with Goldman Sachs for seven years. Before that he was with Shell Oil as a senior reservoir engineer for seven years.
He obtained a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, a PhD in Chemical Engineering from University of Houston, and an MBA from the University of Austin at Texas.
Anuj Sharma is an Investment Director at Mercuria Energy Group where he focuses on principal investments in the E&P sector and manages Mercuria’s E&P portfolio in North and South America. He has more than 16 years of experience covering upstream investments, asset managements, sell-side research and oil field services operations. His specialties are private equity investments and asset management in the upstream oil & gas sector. He obtained a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Malaviya National Institute of Technology, and an MBA with highest honors as Fuqua Scholar from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.
Shantanu is a Partner at Energy Ventures, a leading oil and gas focused Venture Capital/Growth Capital firms. He has also founded Oscomp Systems, a startup in the gas compression domain. He focuses on investments in innovative, growth and technology opportunities in the energy sector.
He has deep expertise in Oilfield Services with experience in fieldwork, managing operations and business development/sales for Schlumberger. Prior to his MBA from Harvard University, Shantanu was with Schlumberger leading the sales and marketing role in North-West Europe (All of Norway, Denmark, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, and Mauritania).
He has worked with McKinsey Climate Change Special Initiative, consulting to various US utilities and energy firms in the past. He has also worked with California Clean-energy venture capital firm evaluating the solar and battery spaces in the past. Shantanu has a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.

Below are the directions and parking information to the campus located at 6100 Main Street, Houston, TX 77005.
From US 59S: Take the Greenbriar/Shepherd exit and make a left on Greenbriar. At Rice Boulevard, make a left. You will start seeing entrance numbers and you want to take a right at Entrance #20. At the second stop sign, make a right. You will pass the school (McNair Hall, building #53 on campus map attached). Look to the left for the central parking garage which is an underground parking garage to our building. (Or you can choose to park at nearby surface lots).
