Women of IIT meet to discuss Living in Houston
The second “Living in Houston” Insights over Coffee event hosted by IIT Alumni of Greater Houston on March 7, 2015 was well attended. The social event gave the women of IIT – alums and significant others a chance to Connect and get to know each other.
The group of 8 met at Starbucks in Sugarland. The diverse group included graduates from IIT Delhi and Kharagpur, a doctor, a teacher, a scientist and stay at home moms. They came from all over Houston – Bellaire, Galleria, Katy, Westside and Sugarland. Some have lived in Houston for only a year and others for over 10 years.
After introductions, the topics were varied, ranging from things to do in Houston to where to find good alu parathas and chapattis. The Houston Rodeo was listed as a “must-do” with entertainment (and education) for all ages. The wide array of restaurants, bars and dessert spots in the Montrose area is ideal for foodies. A discussion about Houston’s diverse cultural scene with the ballet, symphony, plays and concerts provided a list of events and venues. Indian Express Restaurant and Indian Spices and Snacks, both in Sugarland were recommended to pick up alu parathas and chapattis.
After about an hour and a half, as good-byes were said, suggestions were made to hold the event in different areas of Houston. The IITAGH team looks forward to many more events to bring the IITAGH community together.
